Easy to install
The mono base frame of the Workroom allows it to be installed on
any type of floor - however for the sake of easy cleaning most deer
farmers
choose a concrete floor. A number of clients have
incorporated a hose wash in their deer handling facility. The mono
base frame of the Workroom also allows the whole unit to be
assembled and then skidded around within your deer yards - along
side a wall through which deer can come from an existing pen,or
race, or far enough away from a wall to create a race. Walls,
sliding doors, forcing door and draughting doors can be quickly
installed after the Workroom is sited to your satisfaction.
Free Plans
We have accumulated a range of plans for new facilities incorporating our clients best ideas. There are some golden rules which apply to existing yards. Send us a plan of your yards - no need to be to scale but please include measurements and with arrows indicate where the deer presently enter and exit.

HINTS ON HOW TO USE YOUR HEENAN WORKROOM
Hydraulic Pressure: The by-pass relief valve adjuster is located on the (R.H.) input side of the control valve. Should you consider you need more pressure - loosen the locking nut and with the correct size Allen Key, screw in for more, out for less pressure. As a rule of thumb, the pressure a man can stand seems just right - if the motor stalls or works too hard when a cylinder reaches the end of its stroke, the by-pass pressure is set too high. Hydraulic Controls should respond by moving the wall or platform the same direction as the lever moves. The two horizontal levers control the walls up and down and the vertical lever controls the work platform wall closed or open.
For many operations such as T.B. Testing, neck shaving, ear tagging, drenching etc, the padded walls are vertical. One at a time or several may be comfortably worked with. They do not have to be totally restrained - just closed sufficiently to allow the operator to comfortably reach and work while the deer stand quietly.
Fawning: For fawning, padded sides should be set in a V - this assists the fawn into the birthing position - back the hind back to the door, restrain, open the rear door for access and proceed with the birth assistance.
Velveting: For velveting, the padded walls should be set in Λ position. Close the handler to catch the stag on the neck just under the jaw - then lift the padded walls slightly - this tends to restrict the blood flow. So less blood is lost - more blood is retained in the Velvet as well.
